Kitchen and Its Vastu

Everybody dreams of a spacious kitchen. A kitchen is a room used for food preparation. Kitchens that cook: it;s the busiest room in the house-but it may be the least efficient. Make a few simple changes, and you can savor the sheer pleasure of preparing and sharing food. The article focuses on the criteria of designing kitchens by following steps that should be considered before designing and new kitchen and modifying the existing one. A kitchen should honor the ritual of cooking," says kathleen cox, author of the power of vastu living.

There is a saying goes that "To way to a man's heart is through his stomach", so kitchen is the only place from where one can win anyone's heart. For a house wife , this is a place where she has to spend the maximum of the time and for a working woman , it should be so that, she feels fresh as she enters the kitchen, tired . There is no ambience in the home more loved and lived in by all the members of the family, the best of the family , the best place to savour the pleasure of being together with all the tastes , memories and daily habits of the family . These are feelings which need a suitable ambience , where the warmth of wood combines with the strong character of the stony materials , such as marble and granite of table tops and the counter . Every family has different expectation of their kitchens as they follow different cultures. While the basic function of the kitchen is to serve as an area for the preparation of the food , the need of each individual household differ and often the kitchen has to cater to additional and varying requirements. A kitchen layout should be customized to the specific requirements and needs of the users . Hence , it is important to ascertain the individual preferences overall lifestyle and eating habits of the direct users . There are various practical points that must be considered and discussed before commencing the designing of a new kitchen or the modification of an existing one .

· DESIGNING : Before designing the kitchen , one should identify the tasks to be performed in the kitchen. A kitchen should be designed to match the preferred style of the individual user and the general décor of the rest of the house . It may be designed in a country / farmhouse , contemporary , colonial / English , laboratory , futuristic / high-tech , European / Mediterranean or ethnic style with matching decor and finishes .

· PLANNING : Kitchen planning revolves around the three main work centers -storage , washing and cooking. These form three corners of the triangle . These centers should be connected with the work counters. The work pattern generally moves from the décor to the functional flow of traffic in the kitchen.

· STORAGE : The most important aspect of the kitchen design is a well planned storage. It can facilitate or impede the main task of cooking and keep the kitchen either tidy or a mess at the end of the day. Storage units have a variety of internal arrangements and dimensions to suit the items they are going to contain.

· FLOORING : Flooring should be non slippery , resilient , hard wearing and easy to clean. Marble is the most common choice but one can also go for Kotah stone too. Granite tends to be slippery when wet.

· LIGHTING : Kitchen lighting should be bright and functional . Care should be taken to ensure that the light does not cast shadow on the major working areas. Light fitted on the underside of the overhead cabinets light up the counters effectively.

· VENTILATION : Ventilation is the most important aspect that should be taken care of properly. Kitchen is a area which generates lot of odour and smoke , thus this has to immediately emmited out. An exhaust fan is a considerable help in dispelling smell and for air circulation also.

· The hob also has a central position with a canopy formed by its hood, which destroys odours and fills the ambiance with light at the same time. The electrical appliances are carefully concealed beneath the worktop . Function and harmony should be the dominating characteristics of the present collections. · Kitchen walls should be able to withstand all kinds of fumes and splashes. The walls in most kitchens are usually painted. Good quality plastic emulsion paint for areas under the sink and near the wash area. · The sink plays an important role in overall efficiency of the kitchen, linking cooking accessories. Even if you have a dishwasher, a roomy, easy to clean sink is still essential.

· The counter top is the most wear tear area. Materials such as stones, glazed enamel tiles, stainless steel, laminates can be used for counters and each has its own pros and cons. Thus, the basic concept is to finish this ambiance which is the most lived in the entire family with the aim of making it a place in which it is pleasing to be together . To create , therefore , a little domestic paradise in which several people , all there together will find it easy to move about among extremely functional articles . There is no need for large spaces , but it is attractive and welcoming , perfectly in tune with the surroundings with the reminder and exaltation of stories , traditions and rediscovered family values.

Delhi Real Estate - DDA Scheme infected the prices

DDA housing scheme is has come a boon for aspiring home buyers as it has forced even small developers in the National Capital Region (NCR) to dole out hefty discounts and freebies like cars, LCD TVs and international holiday packages to woo buyers.

The DDA housing scheme 2010 has a total of 18,235 flats on offer, right from one-bedroom- hall-kitchen (BHK) to four-BHK.

Many banks are already financing the bookings and the response from the buyers has also been quite positive. The DDA officials plan to sell as many as 25 lakh forms this year. The catch here is the number of flats on offer, which is almost three times the total number of flats that were offered by DDA’s in 2008. However, this apparent advantage for buyers is proving to be a hurdle for the private developers, especially the small ones.

“Home sales had already dropped in past sixth months. Now, the DDA scheme has proved to be another dampener. Most of the potential buyers in the market have applied for it and they are not looking for other options till the results are out,” a property dealer in Dwarka told MAIL TODAY .

“As the whole lottery system of DDA will take at least three to four months, buyers are holding onto their plans. That is why   some developers are going for discounts and freebies, especially in the Noida, Noida extension and Faridabad region,” he added. One developer, Supertech, which had started the Rs 10 lakhflat scheme, is now offering a free car with every booking in the EcoVillage, Noida Extension.

The developer is offering an Alto car with flat sizes between 795 sq ft and 1275 sq ft; a Zen with 1340 sq ft and 1595 sq ft and a Swift with flat sizes of 1750 sq ft to 2275 sq ft area at EcoVillage. Similarly, another developer, RG Builder, is offering a lucky draw with every booking of its luxury  apartments, where any buyer stands to win a car or a bike.

Rishab Developers of Indirapuram is offering discounts up to 15 per cent for its two- BHK flats. Ferrous heights, in Faridabad, have come up with a new scheme where buyers are not required to pay EMI till they get possession of the house.

The buyers have to pay 15 per cent of the home price at the time of booking. Many other small developers are offering LCDs and free holiday coupons with new bookings.Developers said this is not just because of the DDA housing scheme but the stiff competition among the NCR developers. The situation is little different in the Capital.

Even as home sales figures are not very encouraging, brokers are holding onto the prevailing rate rather than resorting to any discount or freebies.

Interior for Your Master Bedroom

The design of a bedroom depends on a few major factors. The first one is who will be occupying the room. For instance, the bedroom design for an adult will be absolutely different from the design of a kids bedroom. Similarly, the size of the bedroom also matters. The design that will suit a master bedroom will not be right for a small spaced bedroom. Therefore, in this article we will be talking about a few basic bedroom interior design ideas.

Master Bedroom Interior Design Ideas

The master bedroom is the largest one among all the other bedrooms in your house. Hence, you can get a lot of scope to experiment with the designs of the bedroom. You should select a design for this bedroom in a way that it reflects the personality of its occupants. The color of the bedroom walls should have a calm and serene effect on your mind and senses. Therefore, blue, green and lavender are the most popular choice of colors. However, if you want a more youthful touch to your bedroom, then opt for some warmer colors like misty peach, buttery yellow, delicate pink, light shades of pastels and so on. If you are looking for a sober lively atmosphere in your bedroom, then opt for neutral colors like light shades of brown.

The furniture of a master bedroom include a double bed, wardrobe, dressing table, side tables and a writing table. If there is a terrace attached to the room, then you can keep some formal seating arrangements over there as well. The finish and shades of the furniture should complement well with the colors of the walls as they cover a part of the wall space.

Lighting of the room should involve proper use of both the artificial light as well as natural daylight. For artificial lights use spot lights and decorative lamps to make the room bright. Bedroom walls can be decorated with paintings or artwork or beautiful wall hangings or posters. You can give a personalized touch to the room by hanging a collage of family photographs enclosed in a decorative frame. Use of natural elements like houseplants inside the bedroom can make you feel closer to nature. Plants that bear flowers once in a month is the ideal choice for this purpose as they will bring about a change in the look of the room after every few days.
